IMELDA ROBERTS: BAREFOOTED SOUL, MUSIC & IMAGINATION

You don’t need to be rich and famous to earn overwhelming recognition. All you need is faith and perseverance to gain endless praises all over the world. Based on a true story of a Filipina-American, poverty is not always a hindrance to success. Heartaches and tragedy sometimes can lead to something unforeseen good fortune. This is just a glimpse from the book “Barefooted Soul” written by Ms. Imelda Roberts. It is a story of her life battling for survival. She shared her childhood experienced coming from a penniless family but having a strong, skilled and warfare spirit she became the Head of Testing and Recruitment, Human Resources Department of San Miguel Corporation. It is the largest publicly listed food, beverage and packaging company in Southeast Asia.

After thwarted turn of events, she immigrated to the United States in 1984 with barefooted soul. Her life from her new home was uneasy. She had to start from scratch, begin once again at the bottom of the employment chain, working as a maid and babysitter.

Heartbreaking isn’t it? God always listen to our prayers and love moves in mysterious ways. Those are Ms. Robert’s precious gems to success. Her strong faith and love was her armor from a strenuous environment and overcome many obstacles that made her to become a better person.

Through her hard work, she becomes the Director of Human Resources for the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments and received many prestigious awards that include the COG Ambassador Award and the Ellis Island Medal of Honor. She also got overwhelming letters from honorable leaders such as President George W. Bush and Senator Hillary Clinton. It is one-of-a kind experienced that everyone should be proud of.

Her book “Barefooted Soul” touched so many lives and become an eye opener to many people. Incredible and inspiring stories of her life that brings so much pride, glory for her country and unite other nations as well. In addition to her selfless act, she also engaged herself doing heroic act of kindness in reaching out to less fortunate people by supporting the following organizations and livelihood programs:

Before the end of the year she will be launching Pinoy Boomer's Songs for a Cause benefiting important causes to Ms. Roberts. This program showcases talented Filipino artists like Faith Cuneta, Roxanne Barcelo and Lordenn Panganiban. On this project Ms. Roberts collaborated with Filipino musical arrangers to give life to over a dozen original Filipino songs she personally composed. Three of the songs were completed with Vehnee Saturno, the country's luminary composer/hitmaker. Watch for the composer and creator of Pinoy Boomer when she returns home to set her sight in her beloved Blue Dreams Philippines.

Is a strong voice for many issues she cares about. Her musical stories based on her own true experiences and social issues important to her. In some cases, the pure joy of simple nature inspires her. In a passionate and in a good way, adversity can also strike a musical chord within her soul. Such is the case for her first ever song she composed and recorded following 9/11. She has a gift of channeling desperate and odd times into positive moments to uplift her own spirit and those of others.
